The Painting I Chose Is MARSH LANDSCAPE By Emil Nolde

By Colin James

If we continue to ponder

in this proximity

leaving other fatalistic choices

to concoct some realism, then

that's a vole, lower corner left.

Yes it is! Note the pointy head.

Turmoil does not imply tampering

where the eye pans outward.

Well, I don't see any water either

but bogs are tempestuously underlying

like icebergs and glaciers.

Colin James has a couple of chapbooks of poetry published. Dreams Of The Really Annoying from Writing Knights Press and A Thoroughness Not Deprived of Absurdity from Piski's Porch Press and a book of poems, Resisting Probability, from Sagging Meniscus Press.
